Running at Black Creek Park’s Rails to Trails

Several months ago, the City of Fultondale completed a project at Black Creek Park about which I am quite excited. There’s an old rail bed, from which the ties and rails have been pulled up, that runs through Pinson-Fultondale-Brookside and so-forth. Fultondale has converted a 3.5 mile stretch of this into a walking/running/hiking trail.

The trail runs more-or-less parallel to Black Creek; mile markers have been placed every half-mile, with park benches at every mile. The city has worked diligently to make it unaccessible to ATVs and motorized vehicles which are prohibited.

Running at Black Creek Park’s Rails to Trails
Both as a runner and just generally as a person who enjoys being outdoors, I have really enjoyed the trail, and hope that it will eventually be extended well beyond its current distance. My golden retriever too is glad to have a place to run, when there’s no one else around, though I suspect that will become less frequently possible as more people learn of and enjoy the use of Black Creek Park’s trail.
